Abstract
Brazilian electoral disputes for proportional positions are permeated by problems regarding compliance with gender quotas. Political parties circumvent the electoral norm that provides for a minimum of 30% of each gender on the candidacies lists and register fictitious candidates,
just to meet the legal requirement, increasing gender inequality and sending the message that women do not serve politics. In this context, this article analyzes judgments handed down in a case of fraud to the
gender quota that occurred in the municipality of Croatá/CE, based on the hypothesis that judicial decisions can influence party behavior on this subject. Therefore, we carried out bibliographic and documental research, using the case study as a method.
