Abstract
The paper discusses the relationship between regional, national leaderships and the importance of political parties in presidential elections. The object is the set of six national elections in Brazil between 1994 and 2014. In the country, the elections for president are concomitant to that of the regional governor, senator, federal representative and state deputy elections. The question is: there any relationship between the electoral performance of regional leaders and the performance of the candidate for president of the same party? The hypothesis is that if there is a relationship between the votes of regional leaders and the national leader, this would reinforce the political parties, at least indirectly. And if there is independence between regional and national performance of parties, this would indicate low electoral integration between regional and national leaders of the same party. To test the relationship between regional and national leaders in the last 20 years in Brazil, the results of state and national elections of PSDB and PT between 1994 and 2014 are compared.

Os trabalhos deverão atender às normas de submissão, como requisito fundamental para aceitação dos artigos pela coordenação da revista. 4. A seleção de trabalhos para publicação é de competência do editor da revista e será feita mediante a análise dos pareceres técnicos. Os trabalhos recebidos para análise e aprovados não serão devolvidos aos autores. 5. Será facultado ao autor apresentar novamente texto anteriormente submetido e não aceito para publicação, desde que realizadas as adaptações sugeridas no parecer anônimo enviado pela EJE/TSE. Não serão admitidos recursos.
